The Business Operations Consultant is primarily responsible for two roles within the Energy Systems and Services Group (ESSG): (1) management of supply chain, inventory and outgoing customer orders for the Smart Storage product line; (2) preparation of budgets and forecasts for Profit and Loss, inventory and capital equipment needs. ESSG is an early-stage business unit within Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC), currently engaged in sales of energy management systems and services to the US market. As the early stage of ESSG’s business dictates, this  position requires considerable flexibility to support a wide range of varied business operation and planning needs of the organization.


  • Responsible for preparation of P&L and capital equipment forecasts; coordinates as necessary with Sales and Engineering staff in preparation of forecasts. Tracks and reports to management on actuals versus budget and actuals versus forecast; identifies and resolves issues and discrepencies uncovered.
  • Manages supply chain of >10 key product materials from both domestic and international sources, including lead time planning, Procurement/Sales/Inventory (PSI) planning and forecasting, creation of purchase requisitions in SAP, verification of PO receipt by vendor, tracking of delivery schedules, coordination of import for international purchases and verification of receipt. Acts as primary point of contact with vendors on supply related matters.
  • Upon receipt of purchase orders from ESSG Sales, works with colleagues in SEC to establish sales order in SAP. Manages third party logistics (3PL) providers in delivery of product to customers. Resolves customer issues regarding delivery and locistics of products as a priority, and places emphasis on building strong customer relationships.
  • Manages product material master data and product BOM master data; collaborates with ESSG Engineering and SEC colleagues to ensure material master data is properly maintained in SAP.
  • Initiates customer account set-up in SAP and collaborates with SEC credit department in establishing lines of credit for customer accounts.
  • Creates purchase requisitions and processes invoices in SAP for non-inventory products and services used by ESSG.
  • Collaborates with engineering to identify and review alternate sources for product materials and components. Coordinates quality review of new vendors as needed. Tracks supply availability and lead times and proposes solutions for any supply constraints in a timely manner. 
  • Prepares and presents accurate and timely reports related to Business Operations and ESSG financial performance as required by management.



  • Bachelors degree, with minimum five years experience in supply chain management, managing business operations or related roles.
  • Must have prior experience using SAP.
  • Must have solid understanding of account principles: P&L; balance sheet; cash flow, and prior experience in preparation of budgets and forcasts.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Excellent Planning, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively across multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • Expert in use of Excel for business planning and analysis, adept in use of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage third party vendors and service providers.
  • Good working knowledge of business planning, sales, administration and financial business practices.
