Overview

Under the direction of the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Sharp’s Consumer Display business, the Director of Sales is responsible for total account management of National Retail accounts such as Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club, BJ’s and Costco Wholesale inclusive of related dotcom entities, Regional Retail accounts such as Microcenter, PC Richard & Sons, Abt, RC Willey, AAFES, Nexcom, the CEDIA channel and National Distributors.  Scope of responsibilities include SKU placement, pricing and program negotiation, merchandising programs, marketing programs both off-line and on-line, supply chain and financial reconciliation (as requested). Key to success will be the development and execution of an overall strategic sales plan: new product placement, forecasting, sell-thru promotions, key presentations and relationship building. This “hands-on” role will start as an invididual contributor role with direct reports as business scales.

 

This function includes a specific sales quota and strong negotiation skills are essential. The role needs to deliver success by setting clear customer and market expectations with measured milestones, consistent team communications and weekly reviews of progress, competitive threats and opportunities. Reporting includes sales call reports and weekly updates with a very close and effective union with both product and brand marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop a comprehensive sales and marketing plan-strategy to achieve assigned sales budgets.
  • Develp, communicate and manage the successful performance of stated territory sales revenues goals.
  • Understand and effectively leverage customer, industry and internal sales information to drive performance and sustain a competitive edge; is viewed as a valued “industry expert” by their accounts.
  • Lead client engagements by developing and managing relationships at all levels from the C-Suite to middle management level to working level for assigned accounts.
  • Develop and internally share all relevant customer operating rhythms and reporting operations.
  • Collaborate with product marketing to achieve specified SKU product placement.
  • Work with marketing communications and channel marketing in developing successful sell thru programs to meet agreed to model weekly unit sales targets and monthly sales targets.
  • Attend and participate in monthly PSI meetings and reports on previous month’s sales (both sell-in and sell-through), inventory and future needs for all customers under his/her responsibility.
  • Manage forecast for all product categories (including any formal rotating customer ladders)
  • Develop and manage a market development fund (MDF) budget along with channel marketing to maximize sales, sell thru and strong return on investment.
  • Ensure time and territory management including multiple same day department meetings including merchandising, marketing, supply chain and digital merchandising meetings.
  • A strong track record of resourceful, decisive and dynamic leadership. Must have a strong sense of purpose, integrity, “hands-on” people-management skills in the areas of leadership, development of customer opportunities and organizational excellence.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, coach and commit to the entire organization’s team goals for growth, market share and brand stewardship.
  • Ability to work and lead within a start-up mentality, highly team focused, yet matrixed organizational structure.
  • Consistently achieve profitable quota results aligned with Sharp Consumer Display’s core mission for growth.
  • Effectively determines appropriate amount of information needed to make rational judgments. Analyzes and provides insight and workable solutions to a range of problems and opportunities.
  • Work with company’s CRM system to maximize Customer sell through
  • Leverage marketing communications’ activities to further drive Customer’s On Ad SKUs.

Qualifications

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of ten years consumer electronics product sales experience to Major Accounts. Television sales experience preferred.  CEDIA experience preferred.
  • Experience in successfully driving sales revenues in the range of $100~250 million dollars.
  • Must be able to demonstrate brand, product and team passion through action and results with an ability to get things done in a matrixed organization.
  • Must be an expert on sales strategies and tactics. Must have proven experience driving sales process from strategy to process to close.
  • Have strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Strong technical and business/economic foundation including formal account planning, sales strategy development, sales tracking and measurement.
  • Ability to interact with customers throughout all levels of their organization which include highly visible activities such as negotiating or presenting.
  • Must have proven ability to articulate distinct aspects of our various products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must have the ability to gain the cooperation of others and communicate clearly and precisely to senior level management, customers and peers.
  • Experience and success at managing national accounts.
  • Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Possess a high level of energy, integrity & execution skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively including internationally.
