    Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President-CFO, the Associate Director - General Accounting is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the company’s general ledger and to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and in compliance with the company’s J- SOX framework. 

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee the maintenance of the company’s general ledger. Assure that all accounts are properly reconciled, documented, approved and are in accordance with US GAAP.
    • Analyze all assets and all liabilities for appropriateness and recommend adjustments (including but not limited to Inventory Reserve and Accrued Liabilities).
    • Prepare journal entry requests with appropriate backup for input to SAP.
    • Review and/or prepare general ledger account analysis and reconciliations using SharpB2B portal.
    • Review and approve accounting adjustments based on analysis of accounts or business processes.
    • Prepare and review monthly analytical comments for variances from prior year-end actual to current period-end for FP&A group and for external auditors.
    • Assure that all J-Sox controls supporting the integrity of the general ledger are in place, functioning and meet tests of design and effectiveness.
    • Review or prepare KPI Analysis for key accruals (Inventory Reserve, Outbound Freight Accrual, Medical Accrual, Non-Trade A/R Reserves, etc.).
    • Ensure business processes and related accounting transactions are optimized to reduce redundancies and risk of misstatements within SEC and across divisions with the consolidated group.
    • Assist in consolidating external dealer operations & new acquisitions with corporate shared services gaining process efficiencies.
    • Prepare reports, analysis and any supporting schedules required for external and internal audits.
    • Manage the monthly accounting close procedures including proper period end cutoff and closing schedule.
    • Assist in preparation of the quarterly Japanese Financial Reporting Package and footnote disclosures.
    • Asssit in the preparation of local Annual Financial Reports and footnote disclosures for US financial institutions.
    • Prepare P&L analysis by business unit and Inventory balances by business unit.   
    • Work with IT on an ongoing basis to improve existing processes for efficiency and integrity of information.
    • Various assignments, tasks and projects as assigned by Senior Management.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. degree in Accounting required
    • MBA or CPA preferred
    • At least 7-12 years of general accounting and financial reporting experience in related industry.
    • Strong knowledge of operational and financial processes and practical application of financial and strategic analysis.
    • Ability to be recognized as a leader in the Company’s Finance function. Demonstrate tactical and strategic thinking leadership skills as well as a high level of integrity.
    • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel required. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Access and Word also required.
    • Working knowledge of SAP and SAP Business Warehouse desired
    • Strong interpersonal, analytical and leadership skills required
