Overview

As a Print Production Technical Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to teach and train technical service individuals in the field of print production. You will be responsible for imparting knowledge and skills related to various aspects of our print production equipment, including pre-press processes, printing techniques, equipment repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, quality control, and post-production procedures. You will play a crucial role in shaping the technical skills and capabilities of students, preparing them to support their customers in the print industry.

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and deliver effective instructional materials and lessons on print production techniques and processes.
  • Teach students how to operate, maintain and, repair print production equipment, such as printers, digital presses, and bindery machines.
  • Instruct students on pre-press activities, including file preparation, color management, and proofing.
  • Demonstrate various printing methods, such as digital printing.
  • Train students on post-production tasks, such as finishing, and binding.
  • Provide hands-on training to students, allowing them to practice their skills in a controlled environment.
  • Assess student performance through examinations, assignments, and practical assessments.
  • Identify individual learning needs and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in print production technology and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to develop and improve the curriculum.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, offering career advice and helping them develop job search skills.
  • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in print production, graphic arts, or a related field.
  • Proven experience and expertise in print production processes, including pre-press, printing, and post-production.
  • Strong knowledge of printing equipment and software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and RIP software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Patience and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and industry practices.
  • 7+ years of teaching or training in the print production field.

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this role is $57,750-$122,590. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
