Overview

Failure Analysis Supervisor will oversee and manage our North American 3rd Party Failure Analysis Center. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electronic component failure analysis, particularly in the automotive industry, and a proven track record in managing failure analysis technicians and processes. This role will work closely with Sharp Quality and Engineering teams in both North America and Japan to enhance analysis capabilities and improve overall performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of the 3rd Party Failure Analysis Center.
  • Schedule work and approve billed hours.
  • Manage analysis priorities and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Identify and arrange for necessary human resources through Sharp’s 3rd Party Failure Analysis Provider (currently Connected Development).
  • Train and mentor Failure Analysis Technicians.
  • Provide detailed evaluations and performance reports on the 3rd Party Failure Analysis Center.
  • Develop and manage failure analysis procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Manage existing test and analysis equipment at the 3rd Party Failure Analysis Center.
  • Recommend and support the development of future analysis equipment needs.
  • Collaborate with Sharp Quality and Sharp Engineering to enhance analysis capabilities to match Sharp Japan’s standards.
  • Establish next steps for analyzed parts with Sharp Japan to reduce the number of components requiring return to Japan.

 

Manage 0KM and ECB (Early Claim Bin) Issues with OEM Quality Engineers

  • Provide OEM Quality Engineers with ECB Summary documentation within 24 hours of an ECB issue notification.
  • Oversee the failure analysis process of returned parts and ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide weekly status updates on 0KM and ECB issues to OEM Quality Engineers.
  • Support issue resolution through direct meetings, site visits, or WebEx discussions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electronic component failure analysis (display and camera experience preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive electronics support.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing failure analysis technicians.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with relational database systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Experience in managing test and analysis equipment.
  • Ability to develop and implement failure analysis procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and international partners.

 

Compensation for this position

The compensation for this role is between $75,000 - $78,720. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
