As the Manager of the Electrical Engineering Team, you’ll play a key role in hands-on product development, design reviews, and compliance initiatives to deliver transformative, high-quality consumer products. This role focuses on New Product Introductions (NPI), product launches, and continuous improvements, ensuring compliance & safety with industry standards while enhancing functionality and consumer experience.

 

 

Responsibilities

Product Development & NPI

  • Lead hands-on design review, prototyping, and validation of consumer appliance electrical systems, including electronic components, control panels, graphical user interfaces, and mechanism controls.
  • Drive electrical and compliance aspects of NPI efforts, ensuring timely, high-quality product launches.
  • Troubleshoot and refine designs to improve performance, reliability, and user experience throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with product manufacturing and quality teams to support efficient and reliable production processes, addressing design-to-production challenges.
  • Define test plans, reports and sign-off on all Product Engineering document changes.

Product Safety & Compliance Oversight

  • Provide leadership in improving product safety, reliability and performance. Define and implement agency product compliance test programs including UL DAP lab oversight.
  • Actively manage compliance collaboration with agencies, including planning, documentation and coordination of UL and Intertek inspections and audits.
  • Ensure products meet safety, reliability, and energy efficiency standards (UL, CSA, FCC, DOE), collaborating with third-party labs and preparing test packages for compliance testing.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and inspire a multidisciplinary team of electrical engineers, compliance specialists, and lab technicians.
  • Actively participate in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting, guiding team members and fostering a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering, manufacturing and product development teams.
  • Occasional travel required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering 
  • 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience in consumer product development, with expertise in prototyping, NPI, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in electrical controls, schematics, and component specification for consumer products.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance standards (UL, CSA, FCC) and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration in design, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

 

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this role is $60,110- $112,708. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
