Overview

The Production Planning & Systems Optimization Specialist plays a critical role in coordinating and optimizing factory production schedules to ensure the timely delivery of products to the customer while maximizing efficiency and minimizing shipping costs. This requires collaboration with various departments, including product management, quality, factory, logistics, and sales, to align schedules with demand forecasts and operational capacities. They will leverage their expertise in production scheduling and IT solutions to drive efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement for the Operations team.

Responsibilities

  • Create and uphold production schedules, including customer runout plans, to fulfill customer needs, manage inventory, and ensure timely deliveries for IA, MIP, Global, and Automotive.
  • Monitor and track production progress, identify potential bottlenecks or delays, and proactively implement solutions to optimize schedules.
  • Collaborate with the sales, quality, and logistic teams to understand customer requirements, prioritize orders, and adjust schedules accordingly.
  • Communicate production schedules, changes, and updates to relevant departments and stakeholders promptly.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine scheduling processes to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize shipping costs.
  • Identify opportunities for capacity optimization, resource utilization improvements, and inventory management enhancement.
  • Issues approved by product management, product purchase authorizations to on-site and offshore factories using established planning processes to determine quantities, by evaluating the impact of customer stocking agreements, inventory levels, and product part manufacturing lead times.
  • Utilizes problem-solving techniques to evaluate the reasonableness of purchase quantities and elevates concerns and consequences of inadequate or excessive orders.
  • Monitor factory delivery communication and update the SAP system to reflect accurate data.
  • Manage plant-to-plant inventory transfers.
  • Analyze factory delivery communication and put into action activities to meet both customer requirements and management sales/inventory goals.
  • Establishes and maintains verbal and written communication channels with assigned factories to facilitate the exchange of critical information.
  • Continually look for ways to improve product planning and purchasing systems.
  • Develop and automate self-service reporting tools and dashboards to empower cross-functioning teams to access and analyze data independently.
  • Generates ad hoc reports upon request, utilizing historical and current product data.
  • Works with RMA and Quality team to understand product status, inventory impact, and sellable inventory timeline.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Develop and implement innovative IT solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5-7 years or more experience in planning in the electronics industry or related function
  • Extensive hands-on experience with SAP, and BW, for production planning, material requirements planning (MRP), and inventory management.
  • Strong database management skills, including the ability to extract, analyze, and manipulate large data sets to support operational decision-making.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, data modeling) and experience with Databases or SQL is a plus.
  • Proven ability to develop and automate self-service reporting tools and dashboards, enabling teams to access key data independently.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, utilizing an IT-driven approach to optimize production planning and supply chain efficiency.
  • Requires strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Required to escalate issues within the management structure in a professional manner.
  • Domestic and International travel may be required (10% -20%)

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this consultant role is $90,000 - $100,000.00. T The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location.
