Overview

This position works with all other Corporate Human Resources employees for guidance and direction, the Regional HR Manager has responsibility for managing the day-to-day HR responsibilities for a set of west coast based branches.  Those duties include but are not limited to handling employee relations issues, assisting the corporate benefits department to solve benefits issues, providing orientations to new hires and ensuring employee complaints and concerns are addressed at the branch level, and assistance with branch recruitment and recruitment support of exempt and non-exempt employees.  This position is also responsible for administering corporate HR policies and procedures to west coast based branch locations.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee regional employee relations and other HR concerns that escalate up from local branches
  • Remain current on all HR law especially in California regarding EEO, OSHA Affirmative Action and HIPPA regulations
  • Ensure that branch managers comply with all legal and corporate guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Develop common solution to multi-branch concerns such as recruiting and employee relations
  • Oversee west coast regional branch recruiting working closely with branch hr reps when they exist or directly with branch hiring managers when no local HR rep exists
  • Conduct regional new employee orientations, including the completion and thorough review of all new hire paperwork and review of corporate structures. Present new employees with general employment and SBS information, present benefits information and conduct facility tour.
  • Provide Corporate HR with all necessary information regarding unemployment claims and potentially represent the company at unemployment hearings when necessary.
  • Assist local HR reps and managers with all employee terminations notifying corporate HR of the termination and ensuring company cell phones, corporate credit cards laptops, etc. have been retuned to the company.
  • Assist terminated and retired employees with questions and procedures upon their termination.
  • Coordinate HR activity among several branches when feasible, leveraging volume and multistate presence to enable branches to run more efficiently and cost effectively
  • Review and propose best practices that should be adopted by all branches within region
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Branch General Manager or Corporate Human Resources Management

Qualifications

  • This position can sit in either Santee or Pleasanton, California with occasional travel to other west coast based branch locations: Arizona,New Mexico, and Texas
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience in the field of Human Resources
  • 10+ years of General Human Resources experience, heavy in employee relations and California employment law, talent acquisition, compliance, and benefits.
  • 1-2+ years of HR managerial experience is highly desirable
  • Must be willing and able to travel on occasion as needed within the western US region (25% or less)
  • SHRM certification or similar certification strongly desired
  • Excellent communication skills; interpersonal, verbal and written
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and organizational ability
  • Must exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Able to perform with minimal direction and to interact well with people at all levels
  • Knowledge of PC applications for all aspects of Human Resources

Compensation for this position

The compensation range for this role is $95,000-$125,000. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
